Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead (Web Based Technology)
Location: Staines - United Kingdom
Rate: £ 45 to £ 55 K (Permanent)
The main purpose of the job is to provide technical capabilities within the Web Oriented Architecture (WOA) group.
SERI is embarking on an exciting Web Oriented Architecture (WOA) project within the mobile communications sector. As part of this significant initiative, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Technical Lead / Project Manager.
Skills and experience:
Mandatory:
1. A degree in Telecommunication, Software, Computer Science, Electronics, Natural Science, Mathematics, Engineering or any related discipline (an equivalent period of industrial experience may be substituted).
2. 8+ year’s experience in software development of Web Oriented technology (Web security) and embedded real-time systems.
3. Strong XML/GML/KML and Java/C++ programming skills
4. A high degree of self motivation and a pragmatic approach to problem solving
5. A good level of inter-personal and communication skills
Highly Desirable:
1. A competent level of presentation, communication and planning skills.
2. A high degree of self motivation and the ability to work alone and manage own work whilst setting sensible priorities according to project requirements.
3. The ability to take responsibility for your own technical decisions.
4. Work experience on the process of designing web pages, web sites, web applications or multimedia for the Web. Utilized multiple disciplines, such as animation, authoring, communication design, graphic design, human-computer interaction, information architecture, interaction design and search engine optimization.
5. Knowledge on Markup languages (such as HTML, XHTML and XML), Style sheet languages (such as CSS and XSL), Client-side scripting (such as JavaScript), Server-side scripting (such as PHP and ASP) , Database technologies (such as MySQL and PostgreSQL), Multimedia technologies (such as Flash, Silverlight & WebGL).
6. Knowledge on Mobile Web browsers (e.g. Webkit based (e.g. Safari), IE (6,7,8), Firefox (3.0+), Chrome (4+)).
7. Knowledge on Web server and content management system
8. Experience in Project management, Line management or Technical Lead will be an advantage.
The successful candidate will need to have the ability to gain respect from the other project team members internally & externally, through the level of expertise and maturity they demonstrate. The candidate will need to have a strong relevant technical background in Web Oriented Technology.
