Principal Software Engineer - Communications

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Our work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. You will be working as a leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Ideally we require BS or MS degree coupled with 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
You will join as a member of the product sustaining team in the Oracle Communication Global Business Unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Sustaining Engineering is the last line of defense for customer problems and issues with releases of the Oracle Consulting family of products in the field.
* Responsible for analyzing/solving problems on Service Delivery Platform products and releasing patches on need/demand.
* Responsible for design and development of any/all customer enhancement requests on released products.
* Responsible for supporting field activities, POC activities, and thrive for customers success and satisfaction.
* Responsible to review/follow new product development, provide feedback to Product Management on next versions of products.
* May need to work on multiple products if needed
* Lead and mentor other team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer science engineering or related discipline
* At least 7-10 years of commercial software development experience.
* Strong knowledge of JAVA and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) programming
* Good knowledge of Oracle Database and SQL programming
* High proficiency in J2EE and web service programming
* Experience with UNIX (one of Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX) and Windows
* Good telecommunication technology knowledge (3G, Data service, protocol specification) is a must
* Self motivated, quick learner, ability to work independently as well as in a team
* Ability to work independently on complex issues and deliver with minimal supervision.
* Strong desire to learn and apply new technologies
* Excellent problem analysis and solving skills
* Preference for working in a global cooperative team environment.

DESIREABLE KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS
* Solid experience with Java (or equivalent) in telecom industry with the ability to write maintainable test code.
* Experience with JAVA/J2EE/CORBA commercial software development in telecom industry.
* Experience/Knowledge with SIP/SS7 is a plus.
* Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting product problems.
* Knowledge of VoIP related standards
* Knowledge of High Availability cluster solutions.
* Demonstrated ability to be effective in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
